10 incredible properties for sale along the London Marathon route

This weekend, thousands of people will be lining up to run 26.2 miles through London, to raise money for charity or achieve their personal goals. Even more people will be travelling across the city to cheer their loved ones on and soak up the incredible atmosphere. So, whether you’re running the marathon itself, following friends/family or just watching from the comfort of a sofa, here are a few of the properties currently for sale along the route.

Mile 1 – Greenwich Park

Starting off in gorgeous Greenwich, runners will be feeling the adrenaline and eager to start their race. But the more observant may notice ongoing development in the area. With the £8.4bn investment, the Greenwich Peninsula is set to become a dynamic new area of London, creating next level housing alongside riverfront cafes, bars, event spaces and more. This flat offers an opportunity to live in a part of this community and make the most of modern living.

Mile 9 – Surrey Quays

Hopefully, at this point the legs are still feeling strong and runners are feeling the love from the crowd (repeat of the phrase soaking up the atmosphere). For those supporting, they might be tempted to sneak slightly off the marathon route to take a look at this gorgeous Victorian end of terrace home. Tucked away, in a quite off-road position, the house overlooks Deptford Park and enjoys lots of its original features, including the stained glass door and ceiling roses.

Mile 11 – Canada Water

Legs are sure to be getting tired at this point, with a realisation of how far you’ve come and how much further you’ve got to go. But, there’s a lot of history to be taken in while running through this area of former docklands. For example, this home was converted from the former Thames Water pumping station and grounds and is now considered the one of the largest homes within the gated development.

Mile 12 – Bermondsey

In the lead up to one of London’s most iconic landmarks, Tower Bridge, and almost(ish) at the halfway point of the run, this striking building in Bermondsey is a thoughtful blend of contemporary design and craftmanship. Designed by acclaimed architects Allford Hall Monaghan Morris and RIBA award winning developer Solidspace, the distinctive stepped form, brick façade and cantilevered balconies create a dynamic Tetris like presence in the cityscape, while south-facing roof terraces provide a rare connection to the skyline.

Mile 15 – Isle of Dogs

Runners have passed the halfway mark here and are hopefully enjoying the sights of the high-rises surrounding them on the Isle of Dogs. Landmark West is one of the highest buildings in Canary Wharf so it’s no surprise this sub-penthouse apartment offers panoramic views of the River Thames and the capital. Those watching might as well stay at home and watch the runner from above!

Mile 21 – Limehouse

Stretching out over 1,600sq ft, this property offers the perfect entertaining space with all of the mod-cons you’d expect from a home of this standard. With tall ceilings and plenty of expansive windows, the apartment is continuously flooded with natural light. The roof terrace is another fantastic space, especially as we come into the summer, to entertain friends or chill out with family.

Mile 23 – Mansion House

Runners will be on the home stretch now, with some potentially hitting the dreaded wall. But we think we could push through if we knew we had this apartment to come home to. With a large balcony stretching the entire length of the living room, we can picture ourselves relaxing after the run looking out over the Thames and reflecting on our massive achievement.

Mile 25 – Embankment

Sitting just up from the Embankment, the last stretch of the race, this incredible flat in Seven Dials gives residents easy access to some of London’s best shopping areas, although this might not be a favoured activity for anyone who has just completed the London Marathon. However, a trip to Neals Yard Remedies just around the corner for some of the best smelling bubble bath and lotions might be just what the doctor ordered.

FINISH – St James’s Park

Sitting just at the end of The Mall, this two-bedroom flat has those two little words every marathon runner wants to hear… “lift access”. Positioned on the fifth floor, runners and supporters alike will be thankful for the lift after a busy day running around London. The flat in the highly sought-after Little Adelphi development offers a private balcony, 24-hour concierge and a perfect blend of historical prestige and contemporary London living.
