Dating back to the mid-19th Century, this property is one of the best-preserved vernacular earth-built structures in Scotland.
The Old Schoolhouse was originally constructed to serve a growing population of mill workers on the nearby North Esk and is situated on the outskirts of the village of Logie, just a short drive from the coast.
The property was recognised by Historic Scotland who granted it a category ‘A’ listing before it was purchased in 2005 by the National Trust for Scotland, and as it is set among a rural landscape, the unique and colourful conversion boasts views of the rolling countryside which remain impressive upon every observation.
A small bellcote and cast-iron bell can be found in the entry porch as the property was acquired by the United Free Church in 1929, and beyond the entryway lies an open plan reception room which still features the original stove fire with black stone hearth and a wood mantlepiece.
The kitchen is well-sized and offers plenty of solid wood worktop surfaces while the large bedroom is lined with wood flooring and leads on to an ensuite bathroom with a standalone bathtub perfect for unwinding in.
