Star purchase under £250,000

While not technically a residential property, we love this so much we just couldn’t resist sharing it with you!

As well as being voted one of Britain’s top 10 design icons in 2006, K2 kiosks are undoubtedly synonymous with the traditional image of London many people picture when thinking of the City. Now, the opportunity has arisen to own one of the few red phone boxes left, situated at the west end of Austin Friars at its junction with Cophall Avenue and Throgmorton Avenue.

This telephone kiosk is on sale for £45,000 and is marketed by Bidx1, London, via OnTheMarket.

The K2 kiosk was Britain’s first red telephone box designed by British architect Sir Giles Gilbert Scott in 1924 and after being introduced in 1926, 1,700 K2 kiosks were installed across the UK by 1935. Since making their debut these red telephone boxes have become quintessential pieces of British Heritage, so much so that the 224 kiosks which remain standing today have been listed Grade II by Heritage England in order to protect and preserve them.

As so few remain today, this really is a rare opportunity to purchase a piece of British history. A unique purchase like this also comes with business opportunities as many acquired K2 kiosks have been known to be transformed into quirky coffee shops and florists in recent years to name just a few possibilities.
